July 5th, 2009

I recieved a phone call a few weeks ago from a wonderful young woman looking for a wedding photographer. Since I had already done her senior pictures in the past, and her sisters, I readily agreed. Her ceremony was to take place July 5th.....of this year......in 3 weeks. Not a problem!

I must say, the wedding was absolutly spectacular. The Bride was stunning, the location was beautiful. The planning and organizing went off without a hitch. Plus the fact it turned out to be such a beautiful day with the sun shining, which has been a rarity this summer.

I was so excited over every photo that was taken on the grounds, with the cars, with the children, in the barn. I'm looking forward to seeing these portraits as much as the couple.

Voila! Photo shoot!

I have been blessed with a wonderful family. Immediate and extended...five generations long :) Whenever I have the opportunity, I like to take photos of them, and hopefully capture something that they will treasure...my gift to them. These "sessions" are always done during a family visit of some sort.
I have shared a few photos from these "Front Yard Photo" sessions. Feel free to call to schedule your 15 minute visit, never having to step foot into the studio. Just have a seat in the grass and be yourself. 315-533-7575

The start of yet another era....

Yes, I am once again operating a studio in my home. I took some time off and it was wonderful! I finally got to settle in my new home, I have played plenty of golf, I have spent way to much time reconnecting with friends on Facebook! As I said, I have enjoyed my time.

As the season approaches, the "Senior Portrait" season, my email has been over flowing with requests to "please just take this one session". As location shoots are difficult with a dog and three children, I decided to use a section of my home to take portraits.

I look forward to meeting the Class of 2010, and the various families that I have scheduled so far. I hope to have a wonderful summer, and I hope you have the same.

My Son.....

First of all, He is 8. Second, he is a boy. With that being said, that is the only explanation I have for the following story.

Saturday evening he came to me complaining that his ear was bothering him. He has never suffered from ear aches or ear infections so this was something new I thought I would have to deal with. Remembering what my mom and dad used to always say, I asked him "do you think you have a potato in your ear?" His response to me was....."No, its a foam sticker".
"Ummm, how did a foam sticker get in your ear" I asked.
"It fell in" was his response.
"So", I continued "A foam sticker rolled up in a ball and fell in your ear?"
"Yes" was his simple reply.
This lead to me grabbing a flashlight to check the ear to see if I could see it. And yes, there it was. A rolled up foam sticker, right there within reach. It had a little "end" to it and it was very close to the edge, so I thought that I could grab it with my little tweezers. When I returned from the bathroom, he looked at those tweezers as if I was holding a machete!!! I soothingly explained that I was just going to simply pluck it from his ear. Piece of cake.....
So, now its sunday morning and we are at the emergency room having this foam sticker removed from his ear. It was quick and painless. The dr was very thorough and checked the ear again to see if there was any damage. "Hmmm, there is something else in there, and it looks like a small bead." Looking at my son, the Dr. asked Loren how the bead got into his ear. "It fell in" was his simple response.
So, wednesday afternoon we are at a wonderful Ear, nose and throat dr,...Dr. Chaffee (I think thats how it is spelled) Wonderful wonderful Dr. He looked at the bead and determined that it did not fall in his ear on the same day. Considering the location and the fact that it was now embedded close to his ear drum, it must have fallen in a long, long, long time ago. Too dangerous to remove in the office.....
Which brings us to tomorrow morning at 6am where I will be at St Elizabeths Medical Center to have a bead surgically removed from my sons ear under general anesthesia.
Loren is doing fine, he is mainly concerned that he will not be able to eat breakfast.
I just wanted to share this story with all of you so those waiting for galleries, I will get to them. I will return phone calls, and I will once again return to the office, as long as nothing else falls into my sons ears.
By the way, I am writing this as I am waiting for the Bluff/Johnson gallery to upload to the website, so I am making good use of my time.
Have a great night!

What makes me happy

It was nice, in the midst of this very busy holiday season, to have my daughter and her boyfriend come to the studio for some portraits.
It made me very happy to see them together. They are just so natural, its like they have been together forever. I guess in a way, they have been. Friends since 6th grade. They just belong to each other...it's very sweet.
Now maybe I can get one of these printed and placed in the picture frame thats been sitting on my shelf empty since we moved in 4 months ago.

Busy, Busy, Busy...and Loving it!!!

It has definitly been a busy week...and its not over yet. I thought I would share a bit from yesterdays sessions....and then prepare myself for the eight that I have today! Its an exciting time of year, and I love how excited the kids get when they come to the studio and see the lights, the trees and santa suit. I am still enjoying Senior Portraits, which as I said before, is a much later season than Im used to, but its great. Im thankful for the success of the studio. I will admit that I was a bit nervous with changing location and changing the name. However, I am still seeing my friends and clients from Poland, Little Falls, Mohawk, Booneville, Remsen, Holland Patent, Syracuse, Rochester, Herkimer and even North Carolina. But the exciting part is seeing new faces from Rome and Oneida. That makes me happy....

NRD Pittsburgh - Niagara Falls, NY

Once again, I had the honor of photographing the NRD Pittsburgh awards banquet, this year held in Niagara Falls, NY. Needless to say, it was much closer than last years in West Virginia. This is a night I really enjoy. Seeing the men in their Dress Blues and the women dressed in their formal gowns..its like a prom for grown-ups! It was a great time meeting new people, and seeing many that I remembered from last years event. The accomodations were awesome and I have to admit, that taking my husband along as hired help was a great idea. An evening in Niagara Falls is a great perk! I am already looking forward to next years event. A huge thank you for inviting me!
